Jake DeBrusk may only have three goals and six points in 18 games this season. However, that isn’t stopping a bunch of teams from being interested in acquiring his services.
A former first round pick in the 2015 Draft, he has struggled since last season where he picked up 14 points in 41 games for the Bruins. After being in the NHL Rumor Mill several times the last two seasons, Jake DeBrusk has asked for a trade from the Bruins.
NHL Rumors: Jake DeBrusk interest
According to Darren Dreger, at least one dozen teams have contacted the Boston Bruins about possible trade for the 25 year-old winger.
“As many as 12 teams, maybe more than 12 teams have already checked in on the Jake DeBrusk situation with the Boston Bruins, but the reality is the Bruins now need Jake DeBrusk in their lineup,” Dreger explained on TSN Insider Trading. “I would say the New York Rangers are among the teams that have expressed some interest. You’ve got the Vancouver Canucks, maybe Montreal, maybe Calgary. Certainly Arizona. Go down the list. Historically speaking, when there’s been other Jake DeBrusk trade situations and speculations, the St. Louis Blues have been near the top of that list as well. You talk about a kid who could score 20 to 25 and he’s scored 16 times in the playoffs. So those stats matter.”
DeBrusk is making $3.675M and will be an RFA this summer.
Patrick Roy back in Montreal?
New executive vice president of hockey operations will start the process of searching for a new GM soon. He will have a handful of candidates that must meet ownerships requirement that they are able to speak French.
One name that checks a lot of boxes in Habs legendary goalie, Patrick Roy.
“Would I be interested? Of course,” Roy told TVA Sports and Radio-Canada on Tuesday, via CTV. “But, at the same time, I am aware that it is a process and that there are several very good candidates who will be in the running. But if I get a call, I’ll definitely listen.”

The return of St. Patrick to Montreal? It’s possible.
Luke Fox of Sportsnet spoke with Roy’s agent over the summer. “[Roy] could be a president of hockey ops. He could be a GM. He could be a co-GM. He could be a head coach,” Neil Glasberg said. “It’s going to be situational. That’s the truthful answer.”
COVID concerns in the NHL
The NHL is so concerned with COVID that they sent out a memo basically cancelling Christmas. At least parties.
“We can’t live life just yet the way we all want to. So the NHL has changed its protocols, tightened them up a little bit,” Chris Johnston explained. “Remember in November you had both the New York Islanders and the Ottawa Senators have to be shut down for a period. No one wants to see that happen again and cases are rising around the continent. And so that mean’s no holiday parties, no charity events, no public autograph events for NHL players. Even the instruction that when it comes to their family time over the holidays, not to have too large of gatherings because of possible exposure.”
Hopefully this doesn’t lead to another shutdown.
