Seattle Seahawks sign 36-year-old RB Adrian Peterson to practice squad
Adrian Peterson's NFL comeback is still alive.
After the Tennessee Titans waived Peterson a little more than a week ago, the Seattle Seahawks signed the 36-year-old running back to the practice squad, coach Pete Carroll announced in a Wednesday press conference .
"I just saw him," Carroll said. "He's in. I'm excited to see if he can help us out and give us a little something. He's a player that I've known forever, way back to his high school days and admired him tremendously over the years. I always was disappointed we didn't get him back in the day, but like I just told him, we finally got him.
"So, I'm looking forward to seeing how he does and seeing how he can fit in. He's an incredible competitor and a great guy. So, I'm anxious to give him a chance to get on the field with our boys."
Carroll was the head coach of Southern California from 2001-09 and tried to recruit Peterson, who played for the Oklahoma Sooners from 2004-06, to the Trojans.
Peterson — a 14-year veteran, four-time all-pro and 2012 NFL MVP — originally signed to the Titans practice squad Nov. 2 as Tennessee was looking to replace the injured Derrick Henry. Peterson had been a free agent prior to signing with Tennessee. He played the entire 2020 season for the Detroit Lions.

In three games with the Titans, including two starts, Peterson posted 27 carries for 82 yards with one touchdown. His longest rush for the Titans was a 16-yard gain in a Week 9 loss against the Texans.
Peterson currently ranks fifth on the NFL's all-time rushing yards list with 14,902, which is 367 yards behind the fourth-ranked rusher, Barry Sanders of the Detroit Lions.
The Seahawks (3-8) have lost six of their last seven games and are in last place in the NFC West.
