3 men suspected of area break-ins arrested Saturday

Three people are facing charges after a rash of vehicle break-ins in the Ridgewood and Broadview neighborhoods in Tuscaloosa.

Dylan Alexander Joseph, 23, James Bernarel Maye, 19, and LaDarrius Tervelle Harrison, 19, were taken into custody by Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies after a chase early Saturday.

Deputies had received reports of break-ins in the Magnolia Park area off Old Greensboro Road and chased an SUV carrying the suspects to an apartment complex on 18th Street East.

Once the suspects were in custody, deputies found items from break-ins in Tuscaloosa County as well as break-ins within city limits. The three men were put in jail on seven counts of breaking and entering a vehicle related to the cases on Saturday.

This week, the Tuscaloosa Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Divison got warrants charging each with five more counts of breaking and entering in the Ridgewood and Broadview cases.

Joseph and Maye were served while at the Tuscaloosa County Jail. Harrison was released on bond for the county charges and turned himself in on the new charges Wednesday afternoon.

“We’re grateful the residents were able to provide us with the security footage and that people shared the videos on social media,” said TPD CID Commander Capt. Kip Hart. “We’re grateful the sheriff’s deputies were able to take these suspects into custody and work with us on these cases.”
