Good morning, and welcome to the beginning of the end — of the year, that is. I'm going to excuse you for a few minutes to go put peppermint syrup in your coffee, but next week, I expect you to come prepared.

Here's what you may have missed while you were in your turkey coma.

The Shady's chain and the attorney general's office settled a lawsuit against the chain and its owner. Earlier this year, in the late spring, The owner of Shady's Restaurant in Albany announced it would reopen in violation of an emergency order that temporarily closed bars and restaurants. More details on that in the story.

And if you're a little behind on your holiday shopping, don't worry. The Times talked to some local business owners, who said despite global supply chain issues, they felt prepared for the upcoming season of holiday shopping. There's some more context for you in those pieces.

Happy December everyone!
