Laconia sends one of their own to compete in the Miss America Contest

The pandemic shut down the pageant last year, but nothing is stopping 26-year-old Ashley Marsh from participating in this year’s competition.  Marsh tells laconiadailysun.com “It’s been a whirlwind of an experience.  This was my fifth year competing, the last year I was eligible to compete. So, it was sort of ‘you know what we’re gonna have fun and give it all we got and I ended up taking home the title.”

Lifelong Fitness Advocate

Ashley Marsh took on the pandemic head-on with the posting of 65 days in a row of fitness videos to her Facebook page.  She is passionate about dance and loves to tap the most.  As a CrossFit advocate, she chose for her social impact category for the competition ‘Fit for Life.’  She believes strongly that people of all ages and abilities need to just keep moving.  Her work with the Special Olympics has given her a chance to connect with all kinds of people to speak about body positivity.  Since dropping the swimsuit competition part of the pageant, Marsh says the pageant has become more inclusive, and the focus is not just on looks alone.

Will She be the First Miss America From New Hampshire?

Ashley Marsh would love to bring home the title of Miss America to New Hampshire.  She tells laconiadailysun.com, “Obviously, I’d love to win.  If I can make the top ten, we’ll put New Hampshire on the map and that’s awesome.”  We are cheering for you Ashley!  If you want to watch the pageant, you can stream it on Peacock TV on December 16 at 8 pm.

Cheers to Ashley
