Dom remains in denial about his mum's ailing health, but does tell Sasha that he's aware Carole doesn't have long left.

Keen to support him. Sacha urges Dom to seize the day and honour Carole's wish to take a final trip to the lakes. However, Dom feels overwhelmed by his rapidly changing reality and refuses to entertain the idea.

2. Ollie fights for a second chance

Ollie is eager to return to work and has written a letter of apology, on advice of his therapist.

Ollie insists that he's making decent progress and feels more in control now, but a hungover Hanssen still has his doubts. But will a chance encounter with a familiar face help change Hanssen's mind?

3. Eli and Amelia face an impossible dilemma

Eli and Amelia are still reeling from their bombshell baby news and the difficult choice it brings. While Amelia is determined to follow through with the pregnancy, Eli is adamant that she needs to book in for a medical abortion so she can continue the trial.

After an unfortunate case of crossed wires, Amelia and Eli are horrified to realise that they have very different takes on the matter.

Amelia can't believe that Eli could consider giving up on their dreams to start a family, and insists that she's sacrificing her place on the trial for the sake of their unborn baby. But how will Eli feel about this?

4. Josh spends more time with Claudia

Having bonded with Claudia at his therapy group last week, Josh catches up with her again at the hospital.

Claudia tries to encourage Josh to return to the session as they enjoy a coffee together, but the moment is interrupted by an unsettled Ange.

Claudia is surprised to learn that Ange is Josh's partner, and the awkwardness doesn't stop there either.

5. Carole passes away

Fans will need to have their tissues at the ready next week as Carole's sad story will come to a conclusion.

Following some persuasion from Sacha and Donna, Dom agrees to take Carole to the lakes to see her beloved fish, and it's there that she breathes her last.

Although Carole dies peacefully, even encountering a moment of lucidity in the moments beforehand, Dom is understandably broken by her loss and shuts his concerned colleagues out upon returning to the hospital.

6. Fletch gives Ange an idea

Claudia reawakens a former insecurity of Ange's and she finds herself confiding in her ex-partner Fletch.

Ange tells Fletch that Claudia reminded her of the age difference between her and Josh, admitting her fears that he could easily tire of their domesticated life.

Thankfully, Fletch manages to bring Ange to her senses, but leaves her with an idea to reaffirm her commitment...

7. Sacha and Dom finally make amends

All eyes are on a distraught Dom in the wake of Carole's death, but it's Sacha who steps up when he needs a friend.

Despite everything that's happened between them, Sacha reassures Dom that he loves him unconditionally and promises he doesn't have to be alone.

With emotions running high, Dom admits his shame over his vengeful behaviour earlier in the year and ends up breaking down in Sasha's arms.

Holby City airs these scenes on Tuesday, December 6 at 7.50pm on BBC One.
