The New Jersey Devils today signed Shakir Mukhamadullin, the club's third of three first-round picks, and the 20th-overall selection in the 2020 NHL Draft, to a three-year, entry-level contract starting with the 2021-22 season. New Jersey has loaned Mukhamadullin back to Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the Kontinental Hockey League for the remainder of the 2021-22 KHL season. The announcement was made by Executive Vice President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.

Mukhamadullin, 19, has played in 34 games for Ufa this season, and tallied seven points (3g-4a). The 6'4", 195lbs. defenseman has dressed in 99 total games over the past three seasons for Ufa, while recording six goals and chipping in 12 assists for 18 career points. The 2020-21 campaign marked Mukhamadullin's sophomore season at the professional level, after dressing in 39 contests. Additionally, the blueliner was a member of the Salavat Yulaev organization at the under-18, under-17 and under-16 levels dating back to 2017-18.
Born January 10, 2002, in Ufa, Russia, Mukhamadullin represented his country at the 2021 under-20 World Junior Championships (WJC) and under-18 WJC in 2019 earning a silver medal. The left-handed shot was teammates with Arseni Gritsyuk, New Jersey's fifth-round selection in the 2019 NHL Draft, at the 2021 WJC.
