Lost In Space spoilers are ahead.

The Robinson family are back for more adventures and troubles in Lost In Space season three.

After being ripped apart at the end of season two, Maureen and John and their kids Judy, Will and Penny were left desperately trying to find their way back to each other.

With fans having to wait two long years in order to get some answers, it seems that everything has finally been wrapped up with a bow.

It was nice to see a rare happy ending, with season three getting them all back in one place, and ready to navigate the new world.

But what lies ahead for the characters, their robot enemies and the villains they ran into along the way?

Here’s what you need to know about the show’s future.

Lost in Space: Is Netflix bringing show back for season 4?

Sadly, this is the end of the line for the sci-fi series, with Netflix confirming the season will be the show’s last all the way back in March 2020. With a network show we might offer the hope that a streamer would pick it up for renewal, but that's pretty much a one-way street – Netflix shows don't get to go anywhere else when they're binned.

At the time of the announcement, Zack Estrin, executive producer and showrunner said it was always the plan to give the family of space travellers a three-year run.

"From the beginning, we've always viewed this particular story of The Robinsons as a trilogy – A three-part epic family adventure with a clear beginning, middle and end," he explained.

"It's also worth noting that, with what these characters go through just trying to survive each episode — if anyone deserves to catch their breath before their next mission -- it’s Will, Penny, Judy, Maureen, John, Don West, Dr Smith... and The Robot. And, of course, Debbie the Chicken."

What have the Lost In Space cast said about the show ending?

Naturally, after the show has been such a big part of their lives for the past five years, the cast have been feeling pretty torn about the series ending.

"Personally, I feel very bittersweet," Mina Sundwall, who plays Penny Robinson, told ScreenRant. "And I think it'll be bittersweet for people who love the show to see it. Bitter because it's over, but sweet because of the way that it ends. I was really satisfied with it.

"I love Penny's story arc; I love where she ends up. I can't say very much, but there are a lot of things that I wanted for a long time for her, and that the fans have expressed that they wanted for a long time. I think we'll all be very pleased.

"It'll be bittersweet, but I hope that everybody is satisfied with the ending."

Toby Stephens, who played family patriarch John, added: "I think when you finish doing something like this, you have this family that you have on-screen and they sort of become almost like that in life. You’ve seen them regularly over the course of five years and then suddenly that thing comes to an end and you kind of miss a step."
