AEW News: CM Punk Responds To Criticism Of His ‘Random Opponent’, Pre-Sale Codes For Upcoming Dynamite Tapings, Varisty Blondes Promo From AEW Dark
– As previously reported, CM Punk will face Lee Moriarty on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. A fan criticized the move and AEW’s booking on Twitter, questioning Punk facing a ‘random opponent’ after the promo battle with MJF the week prior. The fan noted that AEW matches don’t have “story or rivalry buildups” and the company “pulls names from hats” for people to wrestle.
Punk replied: “Oh maybe we should tag to see if we can coexist.”
Punk was likely referring to a booking trope used by WWE in which rivals are forced to team even if they’re currently feuding. Of course, AEW also recently used this trope, as the commentary team questioned if Cody Rhodes and PAC could co-exist during their match at Full Gear.
