The grind never stops for executive producer and media mogul Issa Rae, who’s building her media empire with underrepresented Black creatives. Her projects are a breath of fresh air from the typical “Black struggle” trope that’s been used over and over (and over) to reinforce notions of how Black people should live and limit the broad range of Black experiences.

Though Rae has many talents, her greatest (in my own opinion) is her ability to tap into a lively and abundant but often overlooked source in media: Black creatives. We know many Black celebrities who preach about building Black and buying Black, but Rae has proven time and time again that she’s more action than talk.

Her latest feat is her partnership with Glow Up Games, a Black-owned game studio producing a mobile game for fans of Issa’s hit comedy-drama series, Insecure.

Insecure: The Come Up allows players to get inside access to the hilarious world of Issa Dee (Issa Rae), Molly (Yvonne Orji), and the rest of the cast as they have unexpected life events thrown at them.

“I’m excited that The Come Up game is finally out for fans of Insecure to play!” Issa Rae shared in an official statement, according to Forbes. “Working with the Glow Up Games team has been a great experience, as they seamlessly integrated the world of ‘Insecure’ from its characters, stories and music into a game that allows everyone to relive their favorite moments of the series.”

Insecure: The Come Up is now available to download on the Apple App Store, and will soon be available on Google Play.
