OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) -- More schools in Oakland County are facing threats following the Oxford High School mass shooting Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Avondale and Pontiac School Districts addressed threats that resulted in them issuing either full or soft lockdowns.

A message posted on the Avondale School District website said police are investigating a general threat made against high schools in the county.

The message said the threat was circulating on social media and was very general in nature, but in light of the Oxford school shooting yesterday, they said the district is exercising caution and issuing a full lockdown by closing Avondale high school -- located in Auburn Hills -- for the day.

Nearby, police said that parents, staff and students may notice an increased police presence at Troy schools today. Police stressed there isn't an active incident or threat in Troy.

Pontiac School District also said it received a "copycat" threat.

The Pontiac School District's superintendent sent a letter out to families Tuesday confirming a social media post that claimed there was a planned shooting at Pontiac High School.

While the claims are being investigated, the district said there will be extra patrol cars and officers from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office onsite for the rest of the week.

Pontiac schools will be on a soft lockdown with added security measures that are in addition to its existing security team, metal detectors and safety protocols.
