Brian Laundrie’s Parents Reportedly Put For Sale Sign in Front of House
Much of the world accepts that the sad details of Gabby Petito’s death will never be known. It appears that the Laundrie family also wants to put the tragedy behind them. A ‘for sale’ sign is now in front of their North Port, Florida home. This comes nearly a month and a half after their son was discovered dead in a Florida reserve.
Last week we learned that Brian Laundrie’s cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, per the New York Post. Authorities believe he took his own life. The family attorney, Steven Bertolino, also released a statement saying a gun was missing from the Laundrie home.
“While law enforcement was at the Laundrie home on Sept. 17 to complete the missing person report for Brian, we volunteered to surrender all guns in the home to avoid any possible issue going forward,” Bertolino said. “While retrieving and taking inventory of the guns, it was realized one pistol was missing,” he said.
For weeks following Gabby Petito’s disappearance, the Laundrie home was a ground for angry protesters. Several people and news crews documented the home 24/7. They were demanding answers and posting signs about the 22-year-old woman. The Laundries also faced intense scrutiny over what knowledge they had of the young woman. This is because Brian Laundrie came back to the home alone after he and Gabby had plans of traveling on a four-month road trip. Neither he nor the family cooperated with law enforcement. Further, they didn’t answer any questions about the woman’s whereabouts.
The Tragic Story of Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie
Officials found Gabby Petito’s body in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming in late September. Ruled a homicide, the subsequent official cause of death was strangulation. The case captivated the nation because Petito and Laundrie documented the trip through Youtube and other social media platforms. Her death angered the public, who was waiting for Laundrie to explain what happened.
However, upon his return to his family’s home, the outdoorsman let his family know he was heading to the Carlton Reserve near Sarasota. He never returned home. After a massive search, which exhausted money and resources, Laundrie’s family along with the FBI found the 23-year-old’s remains.
The sad story sparked a nationwide discussion of domestic violence and abuse. Authorities stopped Gabby and Brian in Utah in August after a man witnessed Brian hitting Gabby. Ultimately, officers didn’t charge either traveler. However, bodycam footage of the occurrence disturbed the public. Gabby appeared mentally drained and emotional while Brian appeared collected, even joking with the officers that Gabby was “crazy.”
Additionally, the case spurred the Petito family to start a foundation which will help locate missing people and educate on domestic violence in relationships. Throughout the case, Brian Laundrie remained the sole suspect – though we may never know for certain how the tragic demise of both young people came crashing down.
