The film -- directed by newcomer Randall Okita from a screenplay by Adam Yorke and Tommy Gushue -- stars visually impaired actor Skyler Davenport, who portrays Sophie, a young blind woman house-sitting at a secluded mansion who finds herself under invasion by thieves seeking a hidden safe.
According to the film’s official plot synopsis, Sophie’s “only means of defense: a new app called ‘See For Me’. It connects her to a volunteer across the country who helps her survive by seeing on her behalf. Sophie is connected to Kelly (played by The Flash’s Jessica Parker Kennedy), an army veteran who spends her days playing first-person shooter games. Sophie is forced to learn that if she’s going to survive the night, she’ll need all the help she can get. A blind teenage girl who ends up being not so powerless after all.”
Director Randall Okita said in a statement to IGN: “We are so excited to share this first peek at See for Me with the world! I hope that people are inspired by the unlikely underdog that is Sophie, and enjoys the thrills as she shows up in ways that we really haven't seen before.”
Okita also praised the film's lead actor, Skyler Davenport, for their performance while addressing how the production worked with them:
"Skyler's lived experience and generous collaboration brought so much depth to Sophie, as well as how we portrayed her experience of the world. We took extreme caution and had to rethink parts of production when planning a night shoot with a visually impaired actor being chased around a house, but in the end, I think having to reconsider some routines made us more efficient and conscious of how to take care of each other while we were making this movie."
