Mother hits back at trolls who said seven-month-old twins should be put on a diet

A mum has hit back at TikTok trolls for suggesting that her seven-month-old twins need to go on a diet.

Alexis LaRue of The Mejia Family (@themejiafamily_) has dedicated the TikTok account to her adorable twin girls. According to The Sun, the babies weigh 20lbs (9.07kg) each roughly 4lbs more than the average for baby girls in the US, which prompted some people to inundate the mum with unnecessarily harsh comments.

In one viral clip, that has since racked up 12.7 million views, one user rudely commented: “they don’t need snacks.”

In response, Alexis fired back, saying, “Imagine telling a seven-month-old baby that they need to watch what they eat.

“That’s crazy. I could never.”

Thousands of fellow TikTok users flocked to the video to shut down criticisms and show support for the mum-of-two.

One said, “Imagine body shaming a TODDLER. Some of y’all need help and it shows.”

“Honestly twins aren’t usually this healthy and big,” another added. “She’s doing amazing and so are they.”

“Babies NEED a lot of extra fat because illness can be fatal and they need it to live,” one user suggested, “Their proportions will change as they age!”

In a separate video posted earlier in the year, Alexis joked, “Everybody wants to know to know if I’m just tiny... or my babies are huge”, as she is shown struggling to carry both babies in one arm.

Once again, comments started to roll in, with one saying, “Their total weight combined has got to be more than the mum’s”, while others accused the mum of photoshopping the twins to appear bigger.

This led Alexis to follow up with an explanation video, “For quick reference, I’m 115lbs (52kg) and about 5”3 (160cm),” she said. “If I knew how to edit my babies this good then I’d probably have a career in film or editing. I would not be living in an apartment.”

“Your babies are healthy and loved,” one TikTok user commented. “I feel bad for these keyboard cowards with their miserable lives.”

While another added: “Your babies are beautiful. Ignore the idiots.”
