Well, I know we saw this coming, just didn’t know it would happen so soon…and by ‘it’ I mean the Kemba Walker trade rumors starting to swirl.

I speak for the entire fanbase when I say I was super excited to get Kemba Walker on the Knicks this offseason.

The hometown kid who has one of the sickest highlight plays to ever go down inside of Madison Square Garden coming back to play basketball at The Mecca.

It was like a fairytale of sorts.

But just 20 games into the season, Coach Tom Thibodeau announced that Kemba would be removed from the rotation ‘for the time being’ and that Alec Burks would be starting in his place.

So this begs the question; What’s next for Kemba?

Insider Jordan Shultz dropped this somewhat expected bombshell Tuesday afternoon.

Which 3 teams could be interested in Kemba Walker?

While I’m sure the Knicks’ organization would like to hold onto Kemba for a multitude of reasons, Walker may not like the idea of being shelved for too long.

December 15th is when teams can begin trading newly acquired contracts, so the Knicks have 7 games (including the Nets game from last night) to figure out if Kemba was ever really the problem.

I have a sneaky, gut feeling they’re going to play a lot better without Kemba.

The upcoming 7 game slate is going to be one of the toughest stretches of games that the Knicks will face all season, so while the ‘no Kemba’ experiment may not result in a lot of wins for the team, if they show Thibs that they can operate better within his system than they were able to with Kemba in the starting lineup, his days may be numbered in New York.

Walker is on a very nice contract and is still a useable point guard if need be.

He could be used as a salary matching contract in a trade during next offseason, as he’s on a relatively cheap, expiring deal.

The Knicks may try to find a way to keep him happy on the bench somehow, but if he forces his way out, apparently there are interested teams looming.

I would have to imagine that the Knicks want to see how the team functions without Kemba for the next few games and if they don’t perform up to par, they’ll find a way to get Kemba back into the rotation.

If they perform better than they have been over the first 20 games of the season, Kemba has likely played his last game in orange and blue.

Now, what 3 teams do you think could be interested in Kemba?
