Motion Twin have announced the upcoming The Queen & The Sea DLC for their roguelite Metroidvania Dead Cells.

As previously reported, the game tasks you to control a smoldering blob-like creature, who in turn controls the corpse of a recently beheaded prisoner. Pick from a variety of weapons, thwart deadly foes, uncover secrets, and tailor your stats appropriately each run through the non-linear and randomly generated prison.

The Queen & The Sea DLC promises to bring two new biomes, the Infested Shipwreck and the Lighthouse. Both are parallel to the High Peak Castle and Throne Room biomes, and one is noted as “definitely not the standard-issue Dead Cells level that you know and love.” The DLC will also bring a new final boss, and beating them will earn players a new ending.

In addition, The Queen & The Sea DLC promises new foes, new weapons (including a shark), and “a new not-so-cuddly pet.” You can find the teaser trailer below.

The Queen & The Sea DLC launches Q1 2022 for $4.99 USD. Free updates for the game will continue “until the end of time, well for another year at the very least.” The DLC is also noted as funding the games continued development of the game.
