A Pennsylvania doughnut chain has been named a favorite national restaurant.
Duck Donuts, headquartered in Mechanicsburg, recently received the accolade as part of America’s Favorite Restaurant Chains 2022 by Newsweek and Statista Inc., a statistics portal and industry ranking provider.
“This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication and energy our franchise partners put forth in their shops every day to serve our guests a quality product and excellent customer service,” said Betsy Hamm, Duck Donuts CEO.
Duck Donuts joins other national chains such as Mission BBQ, In-N-Out Burgers, Shake Shack, Red Robin and Zaxby’s on the list. Newsweek broke down chains in 16 categories including barbecue, pizza, Italian, chicken and burgers.
Top restaurants were chosen by an independent survey of restaurant customers and employees. Establishments were rated on criteria such as taste of food, cleanliness, hygiene, transparency and location.
Duck Donuts is headquartered at 6230 Carlisle Pike in Silver Spring Township and was founded by Russ DiGilio, who is a Cumberland County resident. He opened the first shops in North Carolina in 2011.
Duck Donuts specializes in made-to-order doughnuts customers can customize with toppings, such as icings, drizzles, nuts, sprinkles and Oreo cookie crumbles.
Earlier this year, the company was acquired by an affiliate of NewSpring Capital, a private equity firm based in Radner. Today, Duck Donuts operates more than 100 locally owned and operated shops across 22 states as well as international locations.
