Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters will feature a very special Champion of Nurgle. Primarch of the Death Guard, Mortarion was announced in the latest dev diary.

Complex Games and Frontier Foundry just treated the fans to the first look at Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters' big bad, Daemon Primarch of the Death Guard, Mortarion. His paleness' involvement in the narrative will demonstrate just how high the stakes actually are for the Grey Knights. Those as of yet unfamiliar with the favoured champion of Nurgle now have a chance to learn some additional details about the character.

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters:  Who is Mortarion

Mortarion was raised on Barbarus after the twenty Primarchs migrated to different reaches of the galaxy. Mortarion and his Legion, the Death Guard threw their support behind Warmaster Horus when it came time to betray the Emperor of Mankind. This led Mortarion into servitude to the Chaos God Nurgle while he laboured to save himself and his sons from the Plague God’s Destroyer Plague.

Nurgle's latest Champion was given new powers and a brand new army that traded its grey armour in for somewhat less appealing corroded power armours.

Mortarion and the Grey Knights

The Grey Knights and the Death Guard met on the battlefield during the Battle of Kornovin. The battle proved historic when Supreme Grand Master Geronitan fell to the Death Lord and Kaldor Draigo rose in his place.

Draigo managed to banish the Primarch by speaking his True Name all the while carving his fallen Master's name onto Mortarion's heart.
