Two separate shootings in Taylor leave 5 dead Tuesday afternoon; police investigating

TAYLOR, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- Officials in Taylor are investigating two separate homicide scenes that resulted in five deaths Tuesday, including an apparent murder-suicide - the city's first homicides of the year.

The first scene was found in a home in the 600 block of Symes Street just after 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, with police responding to a welfare check.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the bodies of two women, ages 45 and 20, and two men, ages 18 and 57. Police say three of the people were family, while the younger woman was a family friend. All four bodies had gunshot wounds to the head.

Police believe the case is a murder-suicide.

In a separate incident later Tuesday afternoon, officers found 33-year old Jonathan Hitch dead with a gunshot wound to the head. Police were called to the 2100 block of Whistling Way just after 4 p.m. for a welfare check when they found Hitch's body.

Williamson County and the Texas Rangers are assisting Taylor Police with both investigations.
