Manchester City will now travel to Villa Park on Wednesday for their latest league assignment against 13th-place Aston Villa. The Sky Blues have been able to stitch some solid performances over the last couple of weeks as they picked up wins over the likes of PSG, Everton, and West Ham.

The Cityzens do have a decent record in their away fixtures in the Championship as in the ongoing season, the defending champions have managed to win four out of their six games, and have drawn one and lost one. Therefore, against the Lions, the visiting City side would be looking aim for a win as dropping points could sabotage their present standing in this competitive league table.

In the pre-match conference, Pep Guardiola provided an update about the fitness of Phil Foden and Jack Grealish. The Spaniard although refrained from making excuses about his squad’s injury issues as he clearly stated :

"We are a few people. Aymer is out. We have to come back.“We never complain when the players can’t play because of injury or red cards, for any reason.“I trust a lot all of the squad and when one can’t play, another comes inSource : Manchester City Official"

Against Aston Villa, Manchester City’s probable lineup will consist of…..

 Ederson will be chosen as the no.1 shot-stopper as he has been consistent between the sticks. At the back, Ruben Dias and John Stones are likely to be paired as the main center-backs. Aymeric Laporte will not be in contention for selection as he will be serving his one-game suspension. City’s defensive flanks will consist of Kyle Walker, who is set to return as the right-back, whereas, Joao Cancelo will start in his usual left-back role.

Rodri will be slotted as the defensive midfielder and will have the vital job of shielding his backline from the Villa attack. The Spaniard will be provided support in the form of two solid central midfielders. As a result, Ilkay Gundogan will be deployed in the left central midfield position and the right midfield role will be handed to Bernardo Silva, who has been in terrific form this term.

Guardiola’s attacking trio will see Raheem Sterling feature as the left-winger. His excellent form in front of the goal will come in handy against the Hammers. Cole Palmer could be in line to receive a full-fledged start as the no.9. Riyad Mahrez will feature as the right-winger and will play an integral role in this City’s final third.
