ANNVILLE, Pa. (November 29, 2021)  – First-year Jack Spellman of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team was named MAC Freedom Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

It's the first career Player of the Week award for the Westfield, New Jersey native and the first for Stevens men's basketball this season.

"Jack had a terrific week," said head coach Bobby Hurley. "He made big shots offensively and rebounded the ball, but he was also great defensively as well. He is continually improving and I am excited to watch his progress."

Spellman averaged 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds over a pair of Stevens wins. Making his first career start against Baruch, the first-year forward recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while also blocking three shots. In the Ducks' victory over Rutgers-Newark, Spellman finished with a game-high (and career-high) 22 points that included a perfect 4 for 4 performance from behind the arc. All totaled, Spellman finished with 35 points on 14 for 21 shooting, while pulling down 19 boards, blocking five shots, handing out three assists and registering one steal. Spellman is ranked 18th in the conference in scoring (11.4 points per game) and seventh in rebounding (7.4 per game), while ranking second in field-goal percentage (59%).
