Flint-area basketball highlights: Grand Blanc, Durand girls open season with wins

FLINT – Taylor Thompson scored 17 points Thursday and Chelsea Bishop added 13 for Grand Blanc in a 58-32 victory over Flushing.

It was the first game for both teams.

Lauren Brokaw led Flushing with nine points and six rebounds. Anya Ng added eight points.

Sarah Rambus did not play for Flushing because of COVID protocol.

Durand 38, Flint Kearsley 28

Junior guard Jordyn Lawrence had 19 points, three steals and three assists to lead Durand in its season opener. Senior Jessica Winslow added eight points and eight rebounds while junior Sydney Leydig chipped in six rebounds. Samantha Atkinson led Kearsley (0-1) with six points.

Pewamo-Westphalia 36, New Lothrop 25

Alexis Miller had eight points and nine rebounds to lead New Lothrop (0-1).
