OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - Firefighters around the county responded to a hay bale fire in rural Wapello County Tuesday. Crews from the Wapello County Rural Volunteer Fire Department and Blakesburg fire department arrived to see dozens of hay bales up in smoke. Firefighters called for more water to stop the fire’s spread, with construction vehicles moving away charred hay bales.

The fire started on 180th Avenue, west of Ottumwa. There has been no word on the cause of the fire.
