(Tucson, AZ) The Tucson Sugar Skulls continue adding to their 2022 roster, signing QB Justin Martin, WR Tavares Martin, and LB Connor Taylor.
Justin Arth (6’1, 200, QB Texas Wesleyan University) is a Quarterback out of Texas Wesleyan University. He was named a four-time Academic All-Sooner Athletic Conference player. Justin Arth had an award created in his honor, called the Arth RAMS Award. Justin graduated with a four-year Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Business Administration.
Prior to his collegiate career, he attended Creekside Christian Academy in McDonough, GA where he set season and career passing records for yards and TD’s. He was named the Most Improved Player as a junior and was the Team MVP, receiving the Leadership Award as a senior.
Tavares Martin Jr. (6’1, 180 WR, Washington State) attended Washington State University. During his sophomore year, he was ranked among the top 10 receivers in the Pac-12 with 64 receptions. He recorded four 100-yard games, catching 70 passes for 831 yards and nine touchdowns his senior year.
Tavares played his first three seasons of High School at John I. Leonard in Greenacres, FL. As a sophomore, he earned All-County honors after catching 52 passes for 926 yards and nine touchdowns. As a junior he played quarterback, completing 47 percent of his passes before transferring to William T. Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. for his senior season.
Prior to his senior year, Tavares was named ESPN300, and Super 11 Prospect by the Palm Beach Post and Sun Sentinel. As a senior, he earned first-team All-Palm Beach County honors, after catching 37 passes for 641 yards and six touchdowns. He was rated a four-star prospect by ESPN.com and three stars by Rivals.com and Scout.com, rated No. 107 wide receiver prospect in the country, and No. 19 in Florida by Scout.com.
Connor Taylor (6’0, 230 LB, Louisiana Tech) played for two years at Snow College where he was named National Junior College Association (NJCAA) Defensive Player of the Year before transferring to Louisiana Tech. Not only was Taylor recognized for his defensive play but also received recognition for his outstanding academics in the classroom. During his senior year, Taylor led the team recording 75 tackles one fumble recovery, and two forced fumbles.
Prior to his collegiate career, Connor attended Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah, graduating in 2016 where he was a two-sport athlete lettering three years in football and two years in wrestling. Connor was named First Team All-State and Region MVP, accumulating 270 tackles, 10 forced fumbles, and four interceptions at Davis High.
