Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller has warned Barcelona of his team's added motivation after the disappointing 2021 Ballon d'Or results. Muller believes that teammate Robert Lewandowski was more deserving of the award than Lionel Messi. As per stadiumastro:

“From a Bavarian, Polish and also from a German point of view, the presentation of the Ballon d'Or yesterday evening was definitely a disappointment,” Muller wrote in a post on his official LinkedIn profile.

However, he admitted that the results serve as motivation for him to put things into balance and show people the quality of German football, saying:

“This is also a huge motivation for me to put everything into the balance in order to bring the Champions League back to Munich and to show the football world what is going on. And above all, what German football has to offer. We have the next opportunity to do so next Wednesday in the Champions League game against Barcelona. Let's tackle it!”
The statement should serve as a warning to Barcelona, who will certainly feel the anger of the German club. Lewandowski has already scored 25 times across 20 appearances for Bayern this season. Muller, meanwhile, has 6 goals and 14 assists in 21 appearances. The two forwards' contributions have been key to Bayern's strong performances thus far.

With their recent winning history against Barcelona, Thomas Muller and co. will be confident heading into their final Champions League group stage game. They beat Barcelona 3-0 earlier in the season and famously thrashed them 8-2 in August of 2020. With Bayern Munich's extra motivation to uplift German football, Barcelona are in for a tough game next week.
