The Phoenix Suns are as hot as smoldering lava with a high fever. Entering their game against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night, they are riding on a 16-game winning streak.

Facing the Warriors, who are on a seven-game winning streak, is an acid test for the Suns. But if ever they lose the game and see their winning streak end, that could be the least of the team's problems.

The NBA has begun its investigation into the scandal involving Suns owner Robert Sarver and the organization. Reports have surfaced that Sarver has repeatedly used racist, sexist, and misogynistic remarks, enabling a toxic working environment.

But according to ESPN, the probe is already facing a roadblock as it remains unclear if former Suns employees will be released from their non-disclosure agreements (NDA) to be able to fully cooperate.

The Suns organization and the NBA each declined to answer questions from ESPN about whether the former employees will be released from their confidentiality agreements in order to avoid potential legal penalties if they speak to investigators.

A Suns spokesperson said the organization “is fully cooperating with the investigation” but declined to answer questions about the NDA release, citing the ongoing investigation.

With this, it wouldn't be surprising if the NBA compels Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Deandre Ayton, and other Suns players to be part of the investigation. Booker and Paul have already rallied behind Sarver.

The Suns ideally would want to just focus on winning games, but it appears the team's off-court controversies will continue to be a dark cloud to the season.
