Innosilicon plans to release mid-range Type A Fantasy 1 cards with up to 16 GB of GDDR6x 128-bit VRAM that could match the Nvida RTX 3070, while the Type B dual-GPU variants with up to 32 GB of 19 Gbps GDDR6X VRAM could take on Nvidia's and AMD's high-end offerings.

Innosilicon revealed yesterday at a press conference that the Fenghua 1 GPU we were reporting on a few weeks ago is officially named Fantasy 1. The Chinese company also provided more spec details along with plans for future iterations.

Fantasy 1 is based on the 9-core Imagination BXT GPU and will feature four versions with single and dual-GPU designs. Type A appears to be the consumer/workstation version leaked a few weeks ago. Innosilicon still has not presented exact core and VRAM clocks, but the chiplet GPU is said to offer 5 TFLOPS of single-precision compute power, 160 GPixel/s fill rate and up to 16 GB of GDDR6X VRAM with 128-bit memory bus. Apparently, Innosilicon will not be using 21 Gbps GDDR6X VRAM from Micron. Instead, the Chinese company will use an in-house implementation with 19 Gbps bandwidth. However, due to the limited memory bus speeds, the maximum bandwidth will only reach 304 GB/s, so it could theoretically match an Nvidia RTX 3070 or an AMD RX 6700 XT. There is also an entry-level version with a cut-down PCB and less memory.

Type B is the dual-GPU design that comes with triple-fan or fanless cooling systems. The two GPU chiplets are interconnected via the proprietary Innolink interface and the performance specs are obviously twice as fast as the Type A, so we are looking at 10 TFLOPS of computing power, 320 Gpixel/s fill rate, and up to 32 GB of GDDR6X VRAM.

All versions feature HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4 ports, and a VGA port is included as well with the dual-fan Type A and fanless Type B. They feature the PCIe 4.0 X16 interface and support compute and gaming APIs. Again, Innosiliocn still has not clarified which DX version is supported. The press images show that the cards were benchmarked in Unigine Heaven, but no actual results were provided to the press. No info on pricing and availability for now.

The next generations currently known as Fantasy 2 and Fantasy 3 are already in the works and will be unveiled next year. These iterations will be produced on 5 nm nodes, while the Fantasy 1 is most likely produced on 7 nm.
