PRESCOTT – Saturday, the place to be is the Potlatch Building at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

This is because Breakfast with Santa is scheduled from 9-11 a.m., with this being the first official visit by the jolly old elf.

Admission to the event is a can of food, with all donations going to the Nevada County Food Share. Breakfast with Santa is sponsored by the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Director Jamie Hillery said the toys donated by the Swampriders, on their annual toy drive, will be used as prizes for the children winning at Bingo. Along with Bingo, there will be cookies to decorate, reindeer food to make, letters to write and those attending can get their pictures taken with Santa.

Overall, Hillery said, there will be 11 stations where children can do arts and crafts, which include – face painting, jingle bell necklaces and snowball tosses.

Additionally, Hillery is asking local businesses to decorate their store fronts for the holidays and participate in the Chambers annual business decorating contest. Judging will be Dec. 9, the day of the Chamber’s Annual Christmas Parade. This year’s parade will start at 6 p.m. at City Hall, head up Main, turning left onto East South Second Street and ending behind the Nevada Courthouse. This year’s theme, she said, is “Prescott’s Night of Twinkling Lights”.

Christmas on the Square will begin as soon as the parade ends. Members of the Junior Auxiliary of Nevada County will be on hand with cookies and hot chocolate for the youngsters, and Santa will be there for those who want their picture taken with him.
