Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin shut down a suggestion from wide receiver Chase Claypool about having music at practice.

The Steelers know they have to make changes to get out of their current slump, suffering two losses while giving up 41 points each since tying with the Lions.

One thing they won’t be doing? Introducing music at practice.

That was the suggestion from wide receiver Chase Claypool looking for a more fun atmosphere at practice.

Tomlin was not amused in the slightest.

“Claypool plays wide out and I’ll let him do that. I’ll formulate the practice approach and I think that division of labor is probably appropriate,” Tomlin said.

That was an answer straight out of the Herman Boone playbook.

The classic Remember The Titans character played by Denzel Washington (not necessarily the real-life high school head coaching legend) had a way with dressing down his players, whether pressing Petey about football being “fun” or setting Bertier straight about “who’s your daddy?”

You can almost imagine Tomlin looking Claypool straight in the eye and asking, “Is this your team? Or is this your daddy’s team?”

Tomlin wasn’t the only one going after Claypool for the music thing. Cam Heyward also was less than impressed with the idea.

“I hope he was kidding because as soon as he said it I was literally about to rip the speaker out. That is not what we need right now. It’s X’s & O’s and it’s execution,” Heyward said on the DVE Morning Show.

The Steelers have a date with the Ravens coming up on Sunday. Whether music is involved or not, they need to get right for that game.
