CNCHD sees successful turnout at booster clinics

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Following the CDC guidelines, the Casper-Natrona County Health Department has been able to administer thousands of vaccines to people of all age groups. As Covid-19 continues to change with the new omicron variant, the health department is encouraging residents to consider the booster.

“When we look at this one it actually is completing that series so we hope that everyone does get that booster to protect us through the remainder part of the year. Ya know, we don’t know what’s coming with the new variant that is being out there but it’s just one more opportunity to be protected,” said Anna Kinder, the executive director of CNCHD.

Kinder says each clinic has seen over 300 people, with those numbers increasing due to kids being eligible. Now that all adults over the age of 18 can receive their booster dose, CNCHD is prepared to see more people.

The drive-through clinics have been very simple. You drive up, talk with some volunteers, fill out paperwork, and then receive your shot.

“The drive-throughs are very convenient due to the fact that people don’t have to get out of the car. They don’t have to park and it’s been actually quite beneficial with the kids that we have done but it’s been very successful in the drive-through setting,” said Kinder.

Due to colder weather, the next clinic will be indoors at Central Wyoming Fairgrounds on December 11th.
