Indoor, Outdoor Residential Wood Burning Prohibited Due To SoCal Air Pollution

The South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) has extended a residential no-burn day alert Tuesday, for all those living in the South Coast Air Basin, which includes Santa Clarita.

South Coast AQMD reminds residents in these areas that burning wood in their fireplaces or any indoor or outdoor wood-burning device is prohibited through Wednesday during the mandatory wood-burning ban, according to officials.

The no-burn rule prohibits burning wood as well as manufactured fire logs, such as those made from wax or paper, according to officials.

“Do your part to help keep our air clean by not burning wood during the mandatory wood-burning ban,” officials said.

No burn day alerts are mandatory in order to protect public health when levels of fine particulate air pollution in the region are forecast to be high, and smoke from burning wood can cause health problems, according to officials.

Particles in wood smoke — also known as fine particulate matter or PM2.5 — can get deep into the lungs and cause respiratory problems including asthma attacks, increases in emergency room visits and hospitalizations, according to officials.

Residents can help reduce the harmful health effects of wood smoke by signing up to receive email alerts to learn when a mandatory no-burn day alert is issued.

  1. Hmmm, and yet the billowing clouds of dust kicked up by leaf blowers don’t cause any health problems at all, eh?

  2. Umm, read the news much? Real news does exist so as a courtesy to you ( someone who generally speaks in hyperbole and untruths) Gov Newsom signed AB 1346 back in October 2021. You’re welcome.

    • Alice, you must love being a controlled little sheep. AB 1346 is combustion engines. Battery blowers still will kick up dust. When the power is turned off at the Section 8 residence you live at, then use the battery generator to power everything.
      Let’s go Brandon.

  3. However, flatus ignition is allowed, indoors or out.

  4. Oh, I was well aware of our liberal governor banning generators in the state with the most unreliable power grid. I’m also well aware of Newsome’s illegal choice to not enforce laws on those born south of the border. From car registration to street vendor permits to immigration, they get a free pass on everything. We’ll all be “enjoying” those billowing clouds of dust for decades to come.

You are a perfect example of what Reagan was talking about when he said “it’s not that liberals don’t know anything, it’s that so much of what they ‘know’ ain’t so.”

  5. Sure you were, that’s why you asked the initial question right? Reagan had dementia for years and lied to the American people, business as usual for the repugnants. Hmm, busy day for your ilk as they plan to revoke the constitutional rights of women throughout the US, but yes, by all means distract, delay and defer all efforts to bring to justice your coup leader and traitor.

  6. More hysterical Global Warming/Climate Change, which shaped our beautiful mountains/valleys of SCV/Yosemite/Yellowstone, etc. Try owning a business with the insane/hysterical restrictions imposed by the Liberals at CARB! More good intentions gone berserk/extreme!

  7. Global warming is a real threat. Everyone knows that. Very ignorant to think it has brought us our beautiful National Parks… there weren’t cars or large numbers of people and industry in the late 1800s when
Yellowstone and Yosemite were made National Parks and PROTECTED from humans for future generations. OMG!You don’t get it.

  8. Anne in Wonderland, point was, long before the current Global Warming(PC changed to Climate Change) to fool/hook/indoctrinate the Sheeple into more Liberal front page/Big business/media hypnosis, climate has and will change which created our beautiful mountains, etc. It’s great to be thoughtful, but not fooled by Liberal hysterical behaviors—-we only have 8 3/4 years left to survive———Run, hide, shiver & shake along with the brainwashing Liberals fooling society!

  9. I’d rather try to help.
