Weaver Aleksandra Gaca Debuts Bold Upholstery Collection for Momentum Textiles & Wallcoverings
If the name Aleksandra Gaca isn’t familiar to you yet, it soon will be. This Netherlands-based Polish weaver is known for turning flat yarn into fabrics with wonderful dimensionality. In her namesake contract upholstery collection—her first—for the California-based manufacturer, Gaca transforms recycled cotton, post-consumer polyester, and nylon into a quartet of high-performance, three-dimensional textiles featuring quilted, pillowy surfaces. Bloko spreads a linear, three-color gradient over a 39-inch span of small, puffy rectangles; Ronda’s cushioned circular pockets create a modern honeycomb design; Rombu has a rippling surface of elevated diamond shapes, enhanced with contrasting colors; and Mirko features a handsome texture made of thick, recycled cotton yarns in three interwoven colors. The 54-inch-wide fabrics are available in multiple colorways and boast a 100,000 Wyzenbeek double-rub rating.
