The number of active COVID-19 cases being monitored by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health has exceeded 1,000 for the first time this year, and is the highest since last December 28th when 1,070 cases were active.
Data published Tuesday on the DPH’s Coronavirus Case Dashboard indicated that there were 1,026 active cases, after 165 new positive tests were received, balanced against 82 recoveries. 19,060 cases in all have been recorded here during the pandemic.
Five persons were hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19 symptoms since Monday, while 7 were discharged, and 30 are currently being treated out of the 958 persons who’ve needed hospitalization so far.
The level of community transmission in Sheboygan County is considered “High”, with a case rate of 451.71 per 100,000 persons – unchanged from Monday. The percent of tests returning positive over the last 7 days was 15.72%, down less than one-tenth of one percent from the previous day.
Sheboygan County’s COVID-19 activity level as measured by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is now “Critically High” for the first time this year. For the period November 10-23, there was a burden of 1,091.6 cases per 100,000 persons, and a trajectory that was 17% higher than the previous period.
57.7% of the county population has now received at least one shot of vaccine, amounting to 66,562 persons – 50 more than on Monday. 54 persons became fully vaccinated in the past day, raising that total to 63,516 persons, or 55.1% of the population.
