There is little doubt that people are excited to see what the cast of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series will look like once they get into costume. However, one star who only has to do some minor changes is Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, who has been cast as Uncle Iroh. After all, the Kim's Convenience actor already sports a full beard and would only need to trim it. Nevertheless, Lee reportedly got emotional when he saw his transformation as Prince Zuko's beloved uncle!
Earlier this month, it was announced that Avatar: The Last Airbender has begun production and that Paul Hyung-Sun Lee has been cast as Uncle Iroh. Not surprisingly, people were thrilled about the casting considering that the Mandalorian star looked and sounded like the perfect fit for the role. Still, the make-up crew of the Netflix series had to make some minor changes to Lee's facial hair.
Fans of the original animated series would remember that Uncle Iroh didn't have a full mustache so Lee had to shave that part off. Lee would also need to wear some extra hair on his sideburns to get Iroh's mutton chops. Nevertheless, these are only minor changes for Lee's overall look.
Interestingly, the makeup department also confirmed that Lee simply loved his transformation. It is reported that Lee cried after seeing the "full look."
We're loving this reaction considering that Lee had been thrilled to be cast as Uncle Iroh. Needless to say, we can't wait to see him as everyone's favorite uncle when the Netflix series finally airs.
Avatar: The Last Airbender will also star Gordon Cormier as Aang, Ian Ousley as Sokka, iawentiio as Katara, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, Lim Kay Siu as Gyatso, and Ken Leung as Commander Zhao. The series has not yet been given an official release date.
