Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks could be coming to a crossroads for the franchise in the very near future. After a 3-8 start to the season, their hopes of coming back and getting into the playoffs are practically gone. Now, they will have to focus on potential changes that they need to make to either retool or rebuild their roster.

Wilson is a name that NFL fans will need to keep a close eye on this coming offseason. He has had issues with the franchise in the past and many believe he could look to find his way out of Seattle in the offseason. If that is the case, the Seahawks will have to find a blockbuster trade to move him.

So far this season, Wilson has missed some time due to injury. He has played in eight games, completing 64.9 percent of his pass attempts for 1,811 yards, 12 touchdowns, and three interceptions. In addition to his passing numbers, Wilson has picked up 118 yards and another score on the ground.

There is no question that Wilson is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL when he's healthy. However, the system in Seattle simply doesn't seem to be fitting well with his game anymore. Whether Wilson ends up being traded or the Seahawks move on from Pete Carroll, something needs to change.

All of that being said, let's dive in and take a look at three teams that should already be preparing to pursue a trade for Russell Wilson this offseason.

3 teams that should pursue a Russell Wilson trade

3. Cleveland Browns

One intriguing team to keep an eye on could be the Browns, who might be interested in making a change at the quarterback position this offseason. Baker Mayfield simply hasn't been getting the job done this year. He has been banged up, but Cleveland has to make a decision on what the future holds under center.

Bringing in a superstar quarterback like Russell Wilson would take the Browns to a new level. In fact, that kind of a move could make the Browns a serious Super Bowl contender in the AFC. If that would be the impact that trading for Wilson would make, Cleveland should be very interested in pulling the trigger.

Wilson would be a massive upgrade over Mayfield. If that's the direction the Browns would like to go, then going all out for a Wilson trade would be a great decision to make.

2. Denver Broncos

Another team that could be a potential trade suitor for an elite quarterback is the Broncos, who are a quarterback away from contending in the AFC. Teddy Bridgewater has not done a horrible job as the starter, but he isn't the guy who will lead Denver back to Super Bowl contention. Russell Wilson, on the other hand, very easily could be that guy for the franchise.

Denver has put together an extremely talented all-around offense. They have Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler, Noah Fant, and Javonte Williams to build around moving forward. Putting Wilson in as the leader of that group would make them extremely dangerous. Defensively, the Broncos are still strong even after trading Von Miller to the Los Angeles Rams.

Last offseason, the Broncos were being talked about as the most serious potential trade destination for Aaron Rodgers. John Elway would love to make a move if the right one presents itself. Wilson could be that move for Denver.

1. Washington Football Team

Finally, we're going to go with the team that knocked off the Seahawks and Wilson in Week 12. Washington is in need of a true franchise quarterback and could be a legitimate contender in the NFC with a superstar under center. Ron Rivera would love to have a quarterback like Russell Wilson to work with.

Washington has needed a franchise quarterback for years. They were hoping that Robert Griffin III would be that, but injuries completely derailed his career. Kirk Cousins was also an option, but he ended up leaving to go to the Minnesota Vikings.

Circling back around now that they have built up the rest of their roster would be a wise decision. Adding Wilson would make the offense just as dangerous as the defense, which would be a scary thought for opposing teams. This is the kind of move that the Football Team is ready to make.

Depending on the price tag and Wilson's actual availability this offseason, Washington should go all out to try to acquire him from the Seahawks. If they do that, the rest of the NFC should be on high alert for a new contender in the conference.
