Peaky Blinders star Annabelle Wallis has spoken out on those rumours that her character, Grace Shelby, could be returning to the drama – despite apparently being dead.

Grace fell in love with Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) on the BBC show, going on to marry him and have son Charles with him. Sadly, she was tragically killed in season three after being shot with a bullet that was meant for Tommy.

Exclusively talking to Digital Spy for the release of Silent Night, Wallis addressed the fact that she has previously tweeted that her Peaky Blinders character has "unfinished business", and whether this means that she will be turning up in the sixth and final season.

"I have a few very loyal friends in that Peaky Blinders gang that if I said anything, I think I would be in a lot of trouble," she said. "There's a feature. They're working on a feature, and there's a lot of surprising things in the world of Peaky Blinders.

"As Cillian and I often say to each other, it's really been the gift that keeps on giving. It's become a world of its own. So I'm excited about all of it."

Although this doesn't entirely answer the question of whether Grace will be in Peaky Blinders' final season or not, it certainly doesn't rule out another appearance for her at some point.

The actress, who has also starred in Malignant and The Mummy, also spoke about the fan theory that Grace isn't really dead and could therefore potentially return, teasing that she is "open" to hearing different fan theories.

"Well, I am just so wowed that people connected so much with, you know, the show, and then with the storyline, and with Grace and Tommy," she said. "So I think I'm just wowed. With any of these theories, I'm like: great. I'm open to them.

"It's just exciting to see people get inspired that way, and long for the characters that way. It's an incredible team of people who are very passionate about it all, and especially their fans. So I'm into all of the theories," she added, laughing.

"I don't know. Grace is an enigmatic one. She could turn up at any time. Who knows?"

Thankfully, we don't have too long to wait now until we find out the truth once and for all, as the Peaky Blinders Twitter account recently revealed that we can expect to see season six arrive in "early 2022".

Peaky Blinders season 6 is currently filming and will air on BBC One. Obsessed With… Peaky Blinders - hosted by Digital Spy's Editor, Laurence Mozafari - is available to listen to on BBC Sounds.
