The Galaxy Z Flip 5G is the first Samsung phone to get the December Android Security Patch

It’s crazy to think how just a few short years ago, Samsung was continuously one of the biggest offenders when it came to software updates. Now, the company has turned into the best (other than Google), as the Galaxy S21 series already has Android 12 and the 2021 foldable lineup is coming next. But there’s more to it when it comes to software releases, as there are monthly security patches released at the beginning of every month.

Google usually waits a couple of days after the first of the month, but Samsung has gotten to the point where it doesn’t need to wait. If this wasn’t clear, and you own the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, then you might be surprised by an update waiting to be installed. The Z Flip 5G is the first Samsung phone to receive the December security patch, as it has started rolling out to the following countries (via SamMobile):

The update carries a firmware version of F707BXXS6EUK1, and while it hasn’t yet arrived here in the U.S., it’s only a matter of time. Over the next few days, Samsung Galaxy phone owners should begin seeing the December Android Security Patch arrive on their devices.

Currently, there’s no mention as to what vulnerabilities have been patched with this latest update. But it’s also safe to assume that Samsung hasn’t included any surprise feature changes with the update either. Now, we just have to play the waiting game, but it should only be a couple of days, if not sooner, before it arrives to more smartphones.
