Can I do $10 on pump 15?

Customers at Kwik Trip, a gas station and convenience store chain headquartered in the Midwest, announced it will require customers to prepay for gas beginning in 2022.

The mandate effectuates Jan. 3 and intends to prevent drivers from filling their tank and leaving without paying, according to a spokesperson for Kwik Trip.

“We are moving to prepay to improve our Guest Service,” the spokesperson said. “Our coworkers spend so much time watching the fuel islands for drive-offs, they can’t focus solely on the guests in the store.”

Fuel pumps at Kwik Trip will be turned to pay-at-the-pump or prepay stations, with the exception of side-diesel islands, according to Kwik Trip. The islands will have the option to pay inside, according to a report.

Customers will be able to pay with cash or check when prepaying for fuel inside locations, the report stated.

“Gift cards are a great way to prepay for fuel as they avoid any pre-authorization fees and the guest will be charged for the specific amount pumped right away,” the spokesperson said.
