Report: Jaguars HC Urban Meyer not interested in Notre Dame, college jobs

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer enjoyed successful stints leading the Florida Gators and Ohio State Buckeyes during his collegiate career and, understandably, was linked with the USC Trojans in September after they fired now-former coach Clay Helton.

Meyer publicly poured cold water over the idea he'd leave Jacksonville for USC at that time, but his name again appeared in rumors Monday when it was learned that Brian Kelly was leaving the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the LSU Tigers. However, ESPN's Michael DiRocco reported Tuesday afternoon Meyer, 57, "does not want to re-enter the college ranks at this point in his life."

In total, Meyer won three college national championships and holds an overall collegiate record of 187-32. He temporarily walked away from coaching entirely after the 2018 college season but accepted the Jacksonville gig in January of this year. He previously referred to Notre Dame as his "dream job," though, and also hasn't enjoyed a glowing debut campaign with the Jaguars.

Jacksonville fell to 2-9 via this past Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons, and Meyer generated controversy earlier this fall when videos showing him sitting at a bar in Columbus spending time with a young woman who is not his wife went viral. Meyer appeared to grope the woman in one video and ultimately apologized for causing a "distraction" for the Jaguars.
