Patrick Mahomes recently teamed up with the city’s largest volunteer literacy program, Lead to Read KC. The charity set up a 15 week challenge for children in KC. It encourages kids to read 15 minutes a day after school, giving out big prizes along the way.
There's research to show that even a few daily reading minutes can improve a child's reading proficiency. Fifteen schools have been selected for the first phase of the program. Lead to Read KC is always looking for more reading mentors. Go to here to learn more.

The foundation says its mission is dedicated to improving the lives of children through initiatives that focus on education, health, wellness, underserved communities and other charitable causes.
