Khabib Nurmagomedov wants Dustin Poirier to be very tactful in dealing with Charles Oliveira at UFC 269.

Dustin Poirier is looking to become the UFC lightweight champion and he only needs to beat Charles Oliveira to do so. However, that may not be as easy as it sounds.

According to former longtime UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who already beat Poirier in the past, Oliveira is a tremendous “finisher” and therefore “The Diamond” should never “rush” things up.

Instead, Nurmagomedov suggests that Poirier should stick to his game plan of taking the fight into “deep waters.”

“You cannot go to the Charles Oliveira red zone,” Nurmagomedov assessed via ESPN. “This guy is real finisher, he’s very dangerous. I think if Dustin Poirier take him to the deep ocean like he told us, then I think he’s gonna win. But, if he rush, I think Charles Oliveira gonna have a chance.”

It can be recalled that Poirier previously implied that he is planning to wear Oliveira out and prove that despite being hurt and exhausted, he will still be able to get the job done.

“I would love to for the fight to reach that point where we all find out in front of the world,” Poirier said via MMA Junkie. “That’s the goal of mine to get this fight into those deep waters and see who really wants it more, see who is willing to bleed more and leave it all out there because I know I will. No question about it.”

Poirier and Oliveira will finally meet inside the octagon on Dec. 11, 2021 at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada.
