The Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost longtime head coach Brian Kelly to LSU. As details about Kelly's contract with the Tigers emerge and Kelly himself prepares to head to Baton Rouge, Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick revealed a shady move pulled by Kelly during the whole process.

Hmmm, interesting. Jack Swarbrick didn't hear from Brian Kelly until after the news that the head coach was heading to LSU broke. It's almost as if Kelly didn't want to contact Notre Dame as he was hammering out the details of a monstrous contract with LSU.

Swarbrick also said that he didn't have any discussions with Kelly about other universities, such as LSU, at any time. So, either Notre Dame was completely blindsided by this move thanks to shenanigans by Kelly, or the university was just naive to the fact that Kelly, who became one of the most established college coaches while with the Fighting Irish, had become a bigger name than even they realized.

At any rate, Notre Dame will have to rethink their future plans quick with Kelly heading to LSU. And based on Swarbrick's talk, they could be leaning towards an outside name for their next head coach.

As for LSU, they'll transition from the Ed Orgeron era to the Brian Kelly era. Kelly didn't lead Notre Dame to a national championship but built a reputation as a strong recruiter, something that will aid him in the talent-rich pool of Louisiana and the SEC.
