January 6th Protestor to Run for Texas House

(WBAP/KLIF) — A North Texas man, arrested for participating in the January 6th capital protests, is running for political office. Mark Middleton has filed paperwork to challenge incumbent Texas House Republican David Spiller in House District 68.

The 52-year-old faces federal charges for pushing against a barricade and grabbing a capitol police officer’s wrist on January 6th. The Forestburg man says he did not enter the capitol building that day. Middleton and his wife were captured on video participating in the riot and were arrested in April from the Collin County jail.

The Texas Republican Party has accepted Middleton’s application for candidacy. The Forestburg man was indicted in Washington D.D. by a Federal grand jury in May.
