Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson's season has been anything but smooth. Not only has Wilson had to deal with missing extended time due to injury for the first time in his career, but his Seahawks have plummeted down the standings, currently 3-8 and last in the NFC West. However, this surprising detail makes Wilson and the Seahawks' season look even worse.

Yikes. Third down is basically where quarterbacks make their money- and that's where Seahawks' signal-caller Russell Wilson has been at his worst this season.

To be fair, Wilson certainly hasn't been helped by his running game, as Seattle ranks in the bottom-10 of the NFL in rushing yards per game after routinely ranking as one of the best units in that category in past years.

Wilson himself led the team in rushing with 16 yards in Monday's loss to the Washington Football Team. Not good.

Still, Russell Wilson is getting paid by the Seahawks to produce like one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and is instead producing like a mediocre one- no offense to Mark Brunell. And the Seahawks, essentially out of the playoff race, are feeling it in the win-loss column.

Seahawks fans will hope that Russell Wilson can put a better product on the field down the stretch. Otherwise, the two parties could opt to go their separate ways this offseason.
