Man accused in the murder of an Enterprise ninth-grader has first court appearance

ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — The man accused of fatally shooting an Enterprise High School ninth-grader had his first court appearance.

Last Wednesday night, 28-year-old Deandre Flowers is accused of shooting into an occupied vehicle near the Boll Weevil monument in the downtown district.

A bullet fatally struck 15-year-old Myquell Smith who was a passenger in the car.

On Monday, Coffee District Judge Josh Wilson assigned Andalusia attorney Manish Patel and his law partner, Chris Sledge, to represent Flowers in the murder case. Flowers’ was denied bond.

The defendant is next scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing in an Enterprise courtroom on January 24 of next year.
