The Bad News Keeps Piling Up For Vikings

The Vikings are yet again dealing with bad news when it comes to Covid-19.

Patrick Peterson, who is vaccinated, has been placed on the Covid-19 list. He will need consecutive negative tests before being allowed to play against the Lions this weekend. Here’s Zim’s assessment of how realistic those negative tests are: “Not too many guys have passed those two negative tests, so you just have to let it play out and see where it goes.”

As with everyone else who gets Covid-19, the real focus ought to primarily rest with that person returning to full health. More than anything else, Peterson’s short and long-term health are the top priorities.

From just a football standpoint, it’s another instance of the Vikings dealing with some bad news. Many fans were concerned about the Peterson signing in the offseason. Some would still insist he is overpaid. Even if the signing was misguided and/or he is making too much, there’s no debating he is Minnesota’s CB1. Losing a #1 corner is always difficult to overcome.

Hopefully, Minnesota gets some good news when it comes to their offensive and defensive lines this week. The injuries to Anthony Barr, Peterson, and Christian Darrisaw do make things more difficult, though. The Lions shouldn’t be an issue either way, but the last thing the team ought to do is take them lightly.

If ever there was a must-win, it is against those Lions in Week 13.
