Pizza delivery driver killed after porch collapses at Indiana home

CONNERSVILLE, Indiana — An eastern Indiana man was killed late Saturday night after the porch of a home he was delivering a pizza to collapsed, trapping him under heavy debris, according to Connersville, Indiana police.

Emergency crews were called to a home on West 27th Street in Connersville around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on initial reports of an injured, unconscious person, a police spokesperson said in a Facebook post.

Officers found the pizza delivery driver had fallen through the collapsed porch and was trapped by the debris. The driver, identified as William Fields, 45, of Connersville, was pulled from the debris and transported to an area hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Police said the incident is being investigated as an accident and there is no on-going criminal investigation.
