Who's Playing

Minnesota @ Pittsburgh

Current Records: Minnesota 5-0; Pittsburgh 2-4

What to Know

The Minnesota Golden Gophers have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. They will take on the Pittsburgh Panthers at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday at Petersen Events Center. Minnesota should still be riding high after a victory, while Pitt will be looking to right the ship.

The Golden Gophers have more to be thankful for after their matchup against the Jacksonville Dolphins last Wednesday. Minnesota enjoyed a cozy 55-44 win over Jacksonville. Among those leading the charge for Minnesota was guard Payton Willis, who had 17 points along with six boards.

Meanwhile, the Panthers came up short against the Maryland-Baltimore County Retrievers this past Saturday, falling 87-77. Guard Jamarius Burton wasn't much of a difference maker for Pitt; Burton finished with only seven points on 2-for-11 shooting in his 30 minutes on the court.

Barring any buzzer beaters, the Golden Gophers are expected to win a tight contest. Those burned by picking them against the spread last week might want to keep in mind that the squad has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.

Pittsburgh's defeat took them down to 2-4 while Minnesota's win pulled them up to 5-0. If Minnesota want to win, they will need to focus on stopping Pitt's forward John Hugley, who had 21 points in addition to seven rebounds, and guard Femi Odukale, who had 19 points along with seven rebounds. We'll see whether or not they are up to the challenge.
