Car barrels into the Holiday Shop on Las Olas Boulevard; 1 hurt

One person was injured when a car crashed into a retail store on Las Olas Boulevard early Tuesday, police said.

The car smashed through an exterior wall of the Holiday Shop, at 3001 East Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, at about 3:45 a.m., causing “significant damage” to the store’s interior, Fort Lauderdale police spokesperson Casey Liening said.

Both people in the car at the time of the crash were examined by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel at the scene, Liening said.

A man in the passenger seat was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, according to Fort Lauderdale Battalion Chief Stephen Gollan.

The beachwear retail shops sits on the corner of Las Olas and Almond Avenue. The car crashed into the side of the store that faces Almond Avenue.

Authorities did not comment on a possible cause for the crash.
