A Woodward man was recently sentenced to probation for an August incident in Jefferson.

According to court documents, 26-year-old William Magneson pled guilty to a Class D Felony for eluding. He had a five year prison sentence suspended and placed on probation for three years.

The charge stemmed from an August 12th incident in Jefferson. A Jefferson Police Officer tried to conduct a traffic stop of Magneson’s vehicle, after receiving a state wide broadcast that he was involved in another criminal case in Guthrie County earlier that day. Magneson refused to stop, which led to a chase. Magneson’s vehicle eventually stopped in the Super 8 Hotel parking lot and he fled on foot.

The officer chased him into the lobby, where the officer deployed a taser and Magneson was eventually apprehended.

Magneson was also ordered to pay over $1,200 in court costs and court-appointed attorney fees.
